I would love to elaborate for you! I started out by finding 3 women willing to chair Donuts with Dad. They first of all tried to get idea of how much the donuts would cost us and if we could get some kind off discount. WalMart gave us the best deal. Then they tried to find donors for the juice and napkins. McDonald's donated them. After that, they focused on getting some door prizes donated the Dad's would like. We got a 1 month membership to a health club, a county ham, 5 McDonald's value meals, a florist gift certificate, a gift certificate to the local TN store. We announced our plans in our PTO newsletter, told everyone at our first school wide PTO meeting and sent a note home with a place to fill out the Monday before the date. That was pretty much all the advance planning. The day before the big day, we set up everything. Tables, tablecloths, decorations. The event was supposed to be from 7:00 - 7:30 a.m. So we arrived donuts in tow at 6:30. Poured cups of milk and juice, and set out donuts already on the napkins, so that they could go through the line and just pick up what they need. Only one door to the school was inlocked so that we could control the flow of people traffic. We had enough door prizes that we called a winning name every 5 minutes. We are putting a thank you ad in the paper this week thanking all the sponsors. All in all, the expenses were about $250.00. I think it was probably the best money we will spend all year! Let me know if you have any other questions!
