Help setting up school

sorry for 2nd paragraph's misspellings....

We recently had to gather a lot of parents to move items back into our school. The Principal called many of the parents she thought would help. She then asked them to pass the word. She normally doesn't do this, but in this instance, it was the only way for it to work.

We use our Roommothers as phone trees to relay messages to parents. We assign two roommothers per class. Parents are more apt to return a call from a mom in their child's class than a board member.

I agree with Lisa, no one was given enough notice here, including you!

I would show with the 3-4 people you have and get the job done. Something is better than nothing!

...any high school kids you know of that you could ask and they can use it a community help time?....

let me guess the four you have are the PTO officers ;) lol

Honestly, I think the request was made too late, or at least, not enough time was given. A lot of family's are doing the last minute vacation, or getting ready to go back to school. If the request had been made sooner, I bet you would have gotten a better response. At least that's my idealic ideal. :D Good luck!

If you have a local newspaper or radio station, you could contact them and ask for help. We recently built a a new playground and our local paper wrote a great article about the build. We had tons of people show up. You may also want to contact local organizations and businesses. They sometimes have groups that help with community type projects. It's tough to get hold of people during the summer, plus a lot of folks are trying to get in that last vacation before school starts. Good luck.

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

HI
I am the volunteer coordinator for our school. I have been asked to get parents come to the school this week and help paint, carry supplies etc. I have called about 30 new families left messages and only got 4 yes's. I do not have a list of new families emails yet. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to say? I did put a urgent message asking for help on our website. I put my phone number and my email. No response.
I guess this is only the beginging of no help.
