HELP!! I've read some of the messages on designing a new PTO pamplet. Our school does not have one and I'm new to all of this. Please email with ideas, suggestions. Our Kindergarten round-up is soon and I wanted to hand out a PTO informational sheet of some sort then. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

I too would love to have a copy of your pamphlet. I am interested in updating our PTO brocure. Our attendance is very low and we're looking for ways to introduce the incoming families. Thank you

We compiled a handbook that we passed out to all families at our school's Open House the day before classes began(we also had an ice cream social to get more families to attend!). This gave parents the opportunity to put a name with a face. We included not only a thorough description of our P.T.O.'s mission, executive office positions with a job description of each, but also listed the dates and times of each monthly meeting. We decided to alternate the times each month in order to try to accommodate both parents AND teachers schedules. We also listed our executive officers names and phone #'s and encouraged everyone to call with any questions, comments, or suggestions. We listed our standing committees, fundraisers, events, etc.and explained each in detail. This included how many volunteers were needed for each item, estimated time involved to complete the activity, etc. We included a survey with specific tasks(and estimated amount of time it would take),and asked parents to fill out any activities they could help with, as well as any special talents or interests they may have that could be utilized by the P.T.O.(one parent, who is a CPA, volunteered to audit our checkbook...another offered to landscape the school grounds for no charge.)Finally we listed all the school supplies, teacher stipends, field trips, assemblies and special activities the P.T.O. funds had provided the previous year. This way parents may be more apt to become involved if they can see exactly where their time, effort and money will be going. We put all this info. in a handbook and designed the front cover to include our new logo.We used green paper and explained that all P.T.O. correspondances for the entire year would be printed on this same color paper and would have the logo on top. This made it easier for parents to spot our notes in their child's backpack.
