Wow--great ideas! As usual, I'm back seat driving. LOVE to get my hands on your pamphlet LUVMYKIDS. Most interested in the section re: benefits of volunteering. We're doing a big push to try to attract more parent volunteers. Gov. Romney here in Massachusetts has made HUGE cuts w/in the schools and our class sizes are going UP UP UP!!!
Hi...
this year we used one we saw in a book:"TEAM or together everyone achieves more"! I have also used "Hand in hand together we can". We are fortunate that our name is friendly PALS(parents at Lanigan school). We have adopted stick kids with it and everyone recognizes the name and figures. In a year our group has doubled in size and events(we are only 18 months old after the PTA Was disbanded because there were only three or four parents) A friendlt approach has helped us so much.
"When you stop learning you stop growing."
When I did a section in our pamphlet on the benefits of being involved in your child's education, I used the term **** PTO - Get Involved! At our school we are also fond of using the phrase "It takes a village to raise a child." If I can think of anything else, I'll add it later.
I'm the upcoming pres. for our PTO for next year. One element of our "promote family volunteerism" push is to create a catchy slogan that we can use on letterhead, in our newsletter, and on badges volunteers will wear at events. This is intended to create some energy and excitement and we'll try to make it work in tandem with other ideas to encourage volunteerism. Something like "Sierra PTO" "Making things happen," or "Making a Difference." I'm looking for lots of other ideas to consider. Please, please, help out!
