I second the motion.....just make sure you have someone in mind that will obvously work better.
What a crappy way to start the school year but it happens.
Vote his @ss out at the first meeting...
Seriously...
Check your bylaws. Was this a legal appointment that gave him the position? If it was, I'd say there might be some bylaw rewriting in your future.
Band together with other parents and get rid of him if he won't follow the rules.

Need help in addressing a growing concern with out new PTO President. This past summer our PTO Board appointed a person to fill a "Vice President" position (actually President-Elect)since the position did not get filled in our annual elections. Shortly after doing this, the President resigned. So the President-Elect is now the President. Problem is since acquiring the new title, he has done a complete 180 in his mannerisms and approaches. He is appointing officers and making decisions without discussing with the Board. In addition, he has decided the goals for this year (changing what the Board had previously voted upon) without consulting the Board, and wants to pursue things that could jeopardize our tax-exempt status.
He views teacher appreciation expenses, school club funding and attendance incentives as expenses that should be reduced and/or eliminated from the budget.
He refuses to listen to anyone who has anything to say and says "in the end its about the kids". If this were true, I would not be so uptight. I hate to initiate a process to have him removed from office, but will do so if he continues on.
Any suggestions for how to reduce this power trip and "tame the shrew"?
