In our school the PTO has historically done the fundraising. The Booster hasn't raised funds at all but simply passes equipment charges on to kids when they signup for sports. This fee is getting rather high since they let some kids slide due to income levels. So now some Booster moms want to start fundraising (also on the PTO). In the mean-time our PTO wants to downplay the fundraising this year to focus on building the volunteer community. We will still fundraise... just at a lower level. So, from a parents perspective people are still asking for money. I am not quite sure whether I should curtail the booster club... pull their fund raising needs under the PTO umbrella of responsibility or just pretend they don't exist. My kids in 1st grade so I don't have much school background yet. Advice is welcome
