The only thing that we laminated and magnetized was the calendar which included meeting dates and definite activities. This was included in a Welcome packet with a letter from the President (which then included what has been done and what the goals for the year were) a Volunteer signup sheet and contact sheet for the board and chairs. I e-mailed you the calendar and the contact roster. You can edit it.
All of this was also put on our website too to reinforce it.
hi,,,I have actually attended a workshop that talked about this stuff and my husband being a small business owner adds experience with "advertising". You have to determine what is most imporatant to be on there, would you rather have your events/goals listed or board members? The flyer really should only have like three main things on it, and i find that some clip art adds to it. Flyers that appeal often have that "fun" look, print it on some of that neon paper that you can't lose. Yes it is ugly but I know it stands out, white paper or pale color paper has very little"shouting" ability. As far as a calendar try to do it on the back if you must or do it as a seperate thing. This past year we did ours seperate and if parents raelly wanted they would pick it up. Go for the fun and less crowded look,,,you have approx five seconds to grab thier attention, that time shouldnt be wasted on board members names, they can come up on your next flyer!!good luck

We have a flyer that we need to give out at "meet the teacher". This is our chance, as a PTO, to get the parents excited and informed about our plans for the year.
In the past, it contained the new PTO board, calendar of events, volunteer opportunites, and PTO sponsored events. I would like to include this years specific goals.
I need suggestions to make this flyer memorable and a good reference. By the time I fit this into one flyer it looks pretty crowded.
I was thinking of creating a separate calendar of events on a small card that can be laminated and magnatized so parents will hang on to it. However, I am afraid of getting started into this project without knowing what I am getting into.
