I am not sure how practical they all are but there is nothing that I can find that says you can't try to work things this way at all.
Let me pointo ut that someone will have to do the work you propose to limit the involvement of others - who will that be?
Take your ballots for instance - what form of controls will be placed on them to ensure ineligable voters do not vote and no one tries to stuff the ballot box? Nothing can mess up your day faster then the accusation that the election was rigged. I know I live in Louisiana
As for starting from the beginning - there are a ton of resources here at PTOToday on this - both in the useful resources area and in the posts on the boards.
You seemt o have a lot of ideas - and that is a lot of what this is about - trying new things - please keep us posted on how some of them go!
Hi. I'm new at all this and am sooo glad to have found you. Anyway, i'm determined to start a PTO and was wondering if I could send home a newsletter stating our mission and also include a membership form and a total guarntee that we will not suck them in to the black hole of fundraising. I'd like to make it clear that we understand spare time is limited and they don't even have to attend meetings, ever! We would bring the meeting to them, so to speak, and send home all meeting minutes, events, and even home balloting. We'll ask for help on a as needed basis with a signup sheet with short shifts. I'm hoping that the events we hold will fun events that the parents themselves had an informed hand in helping pick. Am I dreaming? An "armchair membership", where you never have to leave your chair to become involved. Any other advice on how to start a PTO from the beginning? :confused:
