You are looking to ask a volunteer elected officer to step down.
I would first off make sure you have the support of the board before attempting to present this. Next the teachers and enough parents to make it stick.
Mom has the right idea, but I would not wait till the last minute to put this on the agenda. The fact that it is on the agenda well before hand may just accomplish what you want.
Keep this in mind what people will say to you may not be what they will tell others. So, although you might think you have the support to remove this officer it may disappear when you go to act.
You can ask her to step down but I have a feeling she will say "no" (keeping it "PG").
What can be done is to discuss with the other board members what is already pretty obvious, then add this to the adgenda at the last minute or have the secretary announce there is one more new business to discuss. This is when you can say "The board would like to ask you to step down. We would like your resignation or we can but it to a vote to the membership and they can decide." If she wants the membership to decide take a vote right then and there.
If you do this are you ready to take on President? Just wanted to ask...it's the mom in me.
Hope this helps.....
We have it in our bylaws that any officer can be vote out of office for failing to do fulfill the duties of their office and 2/3 majority vote. Maybe its time to think about some bylaws.
Has anyone ever had to ask their Pres. to step down?
We are a PTO and have never had By-Laws years ago when they started they didn't think we needed them.
She is causing a lot of problems and at this time parents refuse to come as long as she is running the PTO. I need help! (I am the VP)
She is very hard to deal with. I have wrote about her before and now 2 meetings down she has gotten worse not better.
Can I ask her to step down and if she wont can I force her to by a vote?
