Hi Michele...Im not sure either but when you said she sounds paranoid you are SO RIGHT!! I love her dearly and we have a great relationship but one of her weaknesses(she agrees) is to "brag" about her school.Last year our school just started putting stuff in newspapers, after years of watching all the others do it.Publicity is not a strong point!! She has only been principal for three years and has done so much more than others before her!! There is alot of jealousy(you could say) between schools and it's really pretty petty at times. She is highly regarded by administration and the board so that makes it more confusing. PARANOID!!Im going to give it a little while and go from there...wish me luck!!

Pals- I still don't understand, especially after you have explained it further, why this is even an issue. If a different group presents at each meeting than would it naturally eventually be your groups turn?

My principal truly feels since no other pto has done it lately(if ever) that it will look funny.

Someone always has to be the first or their never would be a second, third etc.
And I seriously don't understand what she means by when things calm down. Your principal seems a bit strange, perhaps paranoid. It's good that she has given you recognition but I still don't see why your group can't be spotlighted now. Whenever it does happen, I hope she realizes that she was a bit peculiar in delaying it.
Good luck!

Hi everyone...Latest update is that my principal says that we will be able to do it in a few months after "things" calm down. I offered to not even be there but she wants me there, yesterday our community kicked off a respect week. There was a motivational speaker who talked about parents , and pto's came up. I guess he went into discussion about groups that only have little or no involvement. She emailed last night and said she felt very proud of what we do have...maybe thats a start. i think sometimes we are just so self ran that she forgets about how far we have come=)

i don't see the conflict. you were asked by the board pres, not your husband. you aren't going to ask for anything, it is just for info, right?
what could the principal be thinking, she should be proud that she has such a great pto!!!!!!
our pto is on the agenda at every board mtg to give an update. good job.

If the issue is YOU giving the presentation, have your VP or another board member give the presentation, if the issue is your husband- he can exuse himself during the presentation if the BOard feels there is an issue.

Honestly, you were elected, your husband was invited/asked, if there was a conflict in someone's by-laws (etc) we would NOT be having this discussion.

I say go for it and make your group SHINE!!!!!!
