Hi there. I just found this site and I'm already hooked. Thank you to all those people who have helped me already. Here goes... I am new to a Charter school and they have decided not to have a PTA but want a PTO. I've been busy for 4 days researching and have found a lot of info. I have read several posts about "seed" money from other PTO's. How do you go about asking for seed money? Does anyone have a letter maybe? Also does anyone have a membership form? Does anyone know anything about Articles of Incorporation for the IRS? I found the FIN application but don't know who fills it out. We have no board only 2(?) parents who are working on this. I said 2 because in addition to myself there is last years PTA President and from what info I've found out last year did nothing. The principal and the Admin. Asst. have been very helpful. Can I start a membership drive before all the paperwork is done? Do I have the authorization to start a PTO basically by myself?
By the way, I was PTA Secretary at my old school for 2 years. Sorry this is so long. I just figured I'd throw it all out there at once.
