Thanks Tim, No we don't have any family events planned yet. Our first meeting is next Tuesday. I unofficially am the ptc president, but we have to do it officially. our only two officers from last year resigned. One is going onto middle school, the other just resigned. So to be fair to every parent, we are having elections first, then the planning will start. I have been on this website all summer for just that reason, planning, great ideas, and lots of great help. by the way, I love the pto today magazine, That is where i got started from. thanks are not enough when it comes to the help i've received. keep up the good work.

Hey -

If you don't pat yourself on the back, who will?

Oh yeah -- we will. Great job!

Especially at a school with loads of new parents, these first 6-8 weeks are tremendously important. Think about what kind of impression you want to make (the shirts are a great start) and focus on that first. Do you have any fun events or family nights scheduled for your first 6-8 weeks? Those are another great way to further connect with new parents early.

Good luck,

Tim

Today was our first day of school. Wow what a great day it was. I spent alot of time this summer researching PTO/PTC issues and today my time really paid off. Not to toot my own horn, but hey everyone needs a pat on the back sometime. I found a tshirt company and had new tshirts made and today myself and another mother wore the shirts and we got a fantastic response from parents and teachers. I was doubting myself for awhile. After school we also sold tshirts outside our school office. We had a major boundary change this year so we had a lot of new parents show up. In 3o minutes we made $180.00. We also sent our tshirt order forms home today. The last ptc president kept watching us, god it made me feel good to know that I was really contributing to my sons school. All the last ptc president could say to me was that any thing we sent home needed to be approved by the principal. Well we had a meeting last week with her and our vice principal to share our ideas and her expectations and she approved everything then. If you haven't had a meeting with your principal do so. It helps and also if you can send home anything you want a great response out of on the first day do that too. Anyway just wanted to pat myself on the back. Thanks to everyone who helped me during the summer. If I can help just one person on this website, let me know.
