I just thought of something else that may help. Our Library keeps magazines called "The Mailbox" (?) for the teachers and bullentin board designers to use. I am sure someone there will have a book or magazine with ideas they are willing to share.
I had a large board too. (Not that large though) I divided it with boarder and made one side a place for our Box Top section. The rest I did different things such as: I made a meeting flyer every month, put our orginal calendar and newsletter up (it's color), any kind of event that was going on I put up flyers for it, I also used poems, articles about involvement and "Reason's to Volunteer at Our School", and I got different activies (most of them from Zoom)and posted them. I tried to get simple ones that everyone could do, young and old. We decorated monthly with die cuts and different paper. I even threatened to use fabric instead of paper, but let's face it, I am not that creative.
We are fortunate that the board is right were parents and grandparents wait to pick up their kids. I think it helped a little. Have fun!
Do you all have a bulletin board or other such wall space at your schools where you can post information pertaining to the PTO? We have a pretty large bulletin board (about classroom blackboard size!) at our disposal, and I'm in charge of keeping it decorated and up-to-date.
It's been blank so far this year (we're year-round), so I figured I'd wait to decorate it until we received our fund raiser kit of demos & samples. Then I'll kick off the new school year with that, but I want to reserve a strip on the left side for PTO in general.
I'm thinking about taking digital photos of the board members to post with their name, position, and a brief bio. Please feel free to share your ideas, too!
