We're starting up for the new year, and I had already lost an officer because they moved out of state. Luckily I found an enthusiastic replacement.
Now I'm finding out that my new treasurer is not very confident in her abilities to handle the position. She said her husband was going to help her because he takes care of the finances and knows the program. However, when the past-treasurer met with her at her home, she said her husband just sat in the other room and didn't pay any attention at all. At the same time, she said the new treasure seemed to stare blankly at her as she explained everything.
I looked at the books last night, and everything is very well kept and self explanatory. I can't really have a hand in sharing the responsibility because of the conflict of interest (holding more than one position on the board).
Hopefully it was just because it was our first meeting and a "get acquainted" time, but she's also very chatty and gets off topic far to easily. Our meeting ran two hours!!! This can't happen when we have our general meetings, and I'm going to have to learn to be a strong parlimentarian to control it. That's something I always thought was so hokey about meetings and didn't feel comfortable around, though.
