Last year we did a potluck and days were assigned. Monday- Italian Day etc. This year we are planning a to just make sure there is enough of whatever to go around daily. The teachers were extremely appreciative. Last year I ordered "100 years from now" bookmarks and another small gift. This year I have "Your a treasure" kits. They have chocolate gold coins. Older grades will be testing that week, I figure they'll take all the chocolate they can get.
Somethings we've done~
*Warms muffins snuck in before the Teachers arrive.(Our Janitor is there first). Maybe get the coffee going too?
*I once bought vases at the dollar store, and put one on each Teacher's desk filled with flowers for my garden (iris) or sometimes florist will give you a good deal on older flowers.
*Thank you cards on their desks.
Good night!
Thank you for replying! I was beginning to think the same thing on the trinkets. My co-president suggested a card with a piece of candy in their mailboxes. Then I found a place where I could get a lapel pin at a great deal instead of the candy. But then I was thinking that if they got something like this every year... well you get the picture. I got a pin from PTO last year at the Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast, and I can't tell you where it is now!
So I'm thinking about calling the principal to see if there's anything they would like added to their teacher's lounge. There's only one 10 or 12 cup coffeemaker in there, and I found a 24-cup coffeemaker at Office Depot for $70. OR... I know the smaller microwaves can be found for under $50 these days. OR... what about a simple toaster oven for those who prefer crispier foods? How about a sound machine or silk plants to warm it up a bit?
This year we are giving them a "Few Minutes of Tranquility" where they can have a herbal neck wrap, foot treatment, hand massage and gorge on delectable temptations made by volunteers. We are also having volunteers available to watch their classes for the 10 minutes or so they will get. That'll be one day only event. The teachers have no idea what it's going to be, they have just said they really didn't want little "trinkets" in their boxes every day so we are leaving that up to the parents to do if they wish. Like I have done a poster board full of my dd's kindy class's handprints with their names signed on it and the poem "Hands" and then the class picture on there as well. I will put it in the classroom that Monday with balloons, then leave her some surprises through out the week. Like wallflowers and refills from White Barn Candle (they love them for their rooms! Better than glade). On that Friday I plan to give her a "movie basket" with a gc for movie rental, gc for a pizza, and boxes of movie candy as well as a couple of bags of microwave popcorn.
