Does someone at the school own a daycare? If so talk to them and ask if they could assist. It could help to reduce their taxlability while
helping you. I am not sure if that would work but it's a thought.
With all of the lets sues out their make sure that your insurance covers such things! You do not want your organization to be sued when trying to accomplish something good.
I would strongly suggest that if you pay for the childcare that you reimburse the parent and have them find someone they feel comfortable with.
We recently found out that by us cutting a check to a science camp made us liable even though the children had rasied the money themselves, and we just administered the monies for them to go. Needless to say we have changed our policy on how we handle our field trips, science camp,
and other off campus excursions.
Hi--With looming budget cuts and increased class size next year--we are working hard to beef up our parent volunteers to "TA" in the K-1 classrooms. Most parents that are at home during the day and would have time to volunteer have young children at home still. We are thinking of buying a daycare slot for their use while in the classroom. Has anyone else attempted this? Any thoughts on liability?
