Executive Committee Divided

Executive Committee Divided was created by vp3kids
Hi everyone, I was vice president last year and am president this year. Last year an ex-president spent a lot of time undermining our committee and talking negativly behind our backs. (I would not have been president this year if her child had not graduated in June.) However, at our last meeting of the year she was very antagonistic and announced she and a chair would be continuing PTO work and would report back in the fall. This caused a problem because, according to our bylaws, these women were no longer members of the PTO, therefore could not do committee work. The executive comm. decided to write a thank you letter and let these women know we had 2 new chairs who could carry on their work. We all signed the letter and I went away on vacation. The ex-president wrote back a letter, addressed it to me, and added a short notice that she wanted to meet with us and our principle to talk about the 'tone' of the PTO and where it is headed. The VP and Treasurer both feel we should not have sent the letter and have been quite vocal throughout the community. So now we have 2 execs. underming our committee. I have spoken with ex-p and she has admitted this is very personal on her part but she wants to meet with everyone, not just me. At this point, since the execs. are not in unity I feel this is not a good idea. I have told her I would meet with her and our principle but she demands everyone be there. I would love any feedback. I spoke with our principle last night and told him I am thinking of resigning. This takes such a toll on me and my family. We have a great group of parents but I have learned 1 or 2 negatives can make the year feel like 20!
Thanks for letting me vent.
