I am so thankful to hear it is possible to overcome one bad apple! My experience is that they are very powerful...I am hoping to get the entire PTO talking about communication and working together at my school. The summer has been spent trying to undo damage one person caused. HOWEVER, I am planning on being open to members and having discussions at the meetings so it can be handled in an open forum.
Good Luck to everyone!
This is wonderful news! Wow - I applaud you sticking with the organization and signing up for another year of leadership. The families of your children's school are very blessed to have you leading the group.
Maybe you could spotlight a few basic ideas that you implemented that brought such positive impact.
Did you surround youself with other positive, upbeat and smiling individuals?
Did you embrace the fact that others just sometimes need to be asked, and included in on the excitement?
Did all of your newsletter messages reflect the positive turn of events and allow others to see that their PTA was not an environent that excluded people, but instead welcomed them all and their involvment.?
Hi. The kids are back in school, and the ball is rolling. Many thanks to everyone who helped me last year when I was being provoked by a difficult member. She is still a witch, but I tell no one. I smile. It's my 2nd year as pres now. We are building upon changes made last year and wow what a difference. PTA had a rep as being an exclusive club and that has changed. There are so many great parents out there but they can be turned off by negative people or talk. After we got a few very possitive people to step up to chair some committees, things have snowballed. This one most negative person is no longer the focus and she has shown her true colors as she has tried harder and harder to get attention. PTA membership is on the rise, and people have come up with new ideas, and a willingness to follow through with them. One bad apple does not have to spoil them all. Hope ya'll are having smooth school openings.
