Am I alone? Our PTO group will be in fundraising frenzy soon. It is a private school with approx.120 students and needs those funds to stay afloat and not have to raise tuition.
We, as a PTO, feel like we are just here to raise money, turn it over, and raise more money. We have heard from several parents they are tired of so much...magazine sales, fruit sales, bbq sale, individual class contest sales, fall festival ticket sales, raffle sales and that is just before Christmas. Yet when we try and consolidate, we are told "we raised $X dollars last year and you have to do it". Any suggestions??
How can you turn such a negative situation around? I would love to have a fall and a spring fundraiser and raise all the money needed. But some people don't believe that to be possible. I personally don't think parents should have to be beating the street selling things, but should be at home helping their child with their homework. Is that the price you have to pay for a private school?
