If you are interested in giving your board members some positive words to remember as the year unfolds - here are a couple of great poems to copy and paste onto some bright colored stationery.

IT TAKES COURAGE

It takes courage
To refrain from gossip
When others delight in it,
To stand up for the absent person
Who is being abused.

It takes courage
To live honestly
Within your means,
And not dishonestly
On the means of others.

It takes courage
To be a REAL man or a TRUE woman,
To hold fast to your ideals
When it causes you
To be looked upon
As strange and peculiar.

It takes courage
To be talked about,
And remain silent,
When a word would justify you
In the eyes of others,
But which you dare not speak
Because it would injure another.

It takes courage
To refuse to do something
That is wrong
Although everyone else
May be doing it
With attitudes as carefree
As a summer song.

It takes courage
To live according
To your own convictions,
To deny yourself
What you cannot afford.
To love your neighbor
As yourself!

"Reaching Your Dream Takes Courage "

Courage is admitting that you're afraid and facing that fear directly. It's being strong enough to ask for help and humble enough to accept it.

Courage is standing up for what you believe in without worrying about the opinions of others. It's following your own heart, living your own life, and settling for nothing less than the best for yourself.

Courage is daring to take a first step, a big leap, or a different path. It's attempting to do something that no one has done before and all others thought impossible.

Courage is keeping heart in the face of disappointment and looking at defeat not as an end but as a new beginning. It's believing that things will ultimately get better even as they get worse.

Courage is being responsible for your own actions and admitting your own mistakes without placing blame on others. It's relying not on others for your success, but on your own skills and efforts.

Courage is refusing to quit even when you're intimidated by impossibility. It's choosing a goal, sticking with it, and finding solutions to the problems.

Courage is thinking big, aiming high, and shooting far. It's taking a dream and doing anything, risking everything, and stopping at nothing to it make it a reality.

I wasn't sure if I sent you the Survival Kits email so I sent it to you today.

Also, you might only want to use one or two of the candy ideas - keep down expense and use a few others as the year unfolds. Keeps the spirits up and the smiles on your board members. You don't want to give all your gifts at one time - when you can spread them out and keep the fun going for a long time.

A stick of GUM to remind you to STICK with it!

A SMARTIE to help you on those days when you SMARTIES don't feel so smart!!!

A STARBURST to give you a burst of energy on the days you don't have any!!!

“A HERSEY HUG because sometimes you just need one.

A HERSEY KISS to remind you that you are loved.

A SNICKERS because sometimes you just have to laugh.

An extra ‘EYEBALL’ because sometimes you need one in the back of your head.

An extra PAYDAY because everyone could use an extra one of those.

A TOOTSIE ROLL l to remind you not to bite off more than you can chew.

A $100 GRAND because you deserve it.

A LIFE SAVER because you truly are.

A MILKY WAY because you are one of the brightest stars in the galaxy.

An ALMOND JOY because sometimes you feel like a nut.

A MOUNDS because sometimes you don’t.

A few REESES PIECES because sometimes you just need a little peace.

One PROMISE that you can break.

A BABY RUTH because sometimes you just want to run home.

A MARS because you’re out of this world.

A bit of confetti tossed in too, just to help remind you to have fun!

A baggie to help you ‘keep it all together.’”
the rest of the "Survivial Kits" are available by email.

This one is my favorite--

If you can imagine it,
You can achive it...
If you can dream it,
You can become it.

It helped me get through some 'trying' times while an officer.
