donation letter

Just a quick reminder - when you send out those donation letters - which many of you are in the process of doing (it seems that way since I've gotten lots of requests for the Solicitation/Donation suggestions), don't forget to send out a Donation Thank You note too.

Those businesses need those thank you notes to help support there donations for tax purposes.

Here's a real simple one.

Using a simple letter that is available on most computers, you could design a stationary (be sure to put the name of the PTO/PTA on the stationary, along with the address and phone number of the school). never ever put the home address /phone number of the PTA/PTO president on anything - always use the school address and phone number.

.............SAMPLE.............
(date)

Mr. (name of person) Store Director
name of the business
address of the business

Dear Mr/Ms.___ (name)___,

On behalf of __(name of the PTA/PTO)___, thank you for your (donation / contribution) of ____________ for our _____________ event. Your generosity is greatly appreciated by the many who work to promote the welfare of our youth through PTa.

Thank you,
__name of the PTA/PTO ORGANIZATION__

__Name of the PTA/PTO president___
PTA President

Hi Lu,
I emailed you the ones I had on file from the letters that Mommaspice put on the Family Education Network message boards a couple of years ago.

I know they are still in the archives but I sent them already to you :).

Look under the topic of 'Door Prizes at Meetings' for what to say when calling someone for a donation. That could help. I don't remember the category.

I am a new president this year and am trying to put together a donation letter to hand out to business asking for donations. The old president has nothing to give (supposedly) so I'm going in blind. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :(
