If you are indeed forming a PTA, then you are also joining your state PTA and the national PTA. I don't know how big your school district is, but if you have an area council I would start with them. Otherwise, I would contact the state PTA for all the information about which "i" to dot and which "t" to cross.
Hi. I was recently elected as the Secretary of a newly formed PTA for a school to be opened this Spetember 2002. My elected officers and I are trying to learn as much as possible about the basics of such an organization. I've noticed that some other posts referred to new members, but the organization itself was already in place. We are new to everything and don't have a clue where to begin and how to make the start of this exciting new school year a success. Any ideas, suggestions, tips would be very welcome. You may also email me privately at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. - as I'm not all that familiar with how these message boards work. Thanking you all in advance. Nancy
