the county I live in has a policy that elementary school children cannot go selling door to door. We still have the giftwrap and chocolate fundraisers, the parents end up taking the order forms to work or going with their kids in the neighbourhood. Basically, it's just to protect the kids. Good luck with your fundraiser. maggie
PS: did you look into doing something like a mcdonald's night? (all you really have to do is call mcdonalds and then choose a date, advertise the heck out of it and you get 10% of the proceeds for the specific time period.) We just had one last night, it was pretty busy. The school down the road made almost $300. Uno's pizza does something along the same lines, don't have the details on that one though. Fundingfactory.com recycles cell phones and ink cartridges, you can get points or dollars. Boxtops for education runs during the winter, so that won't help you right now, but you can start collecting them now for next year. (10cents a box top) I'm sure there are a ton of other things out there that I'm forgetting.
Wow! Were you given an explanation as to why? Our PTSO is registered as a non-profit organization. It is a seperate entity and I'm not sure the Superintendent can say how we run our organization or fundraisers. I think this needs a little more investigating!
We are at a new school, and have just formed a PTO board. Our school has been open maybe 3 weeks. Our problem is this, we have a fundraiser ready to go for after Spring Break, but our Superindentent, stopped it before it began, stating that a PTO can't do a fundraiser involving children. If we choose to do a fundraiser(selling something) we can't have the students help that PTO is just that a Parent Teacher Organization? Has anyone else had to deal with this, and is it written anywhere that the children can't sell to raise money for the PTO when all the money stays in the school and benefits these children?
