Our PTO has elections and we're lucky to get even one person to stand up. It's so much easier to complain about the clique than it is to do something about it. I keep hearing - they do what they want yet I don't see the complainers at ANY of the meetings and volunteering isn't even considered! I'm at my wits end on how to get new "blood" in I'm about to give up and enjoy the clique for a while.
I am having trouble with a parent who feels our pto is a clique. I will be pto pres in fall (currently vp). I pulled off sample bylaws to define our pto. In the past, officers have been selected personally by outgoing officers. Which, of course, lends to the "clique" image. How can I handle this delicately. I really want to open up pto and get new people involved. Any suggestions on 1. how to handle the parent and 2. get fresh people involved; it always seems to be the same people rotating committees.
