Your after school programs must be very well organized. I would learn about how this person coordinates all the programs and what the participation rate is. The more you know how this person works the better you can understand why or why not he/she should or should not be paid. We are starting a after school program for the first time. We received 12,000 grant money. We are not paying anyone to coordinate the programs. How can your school fit in so many programs in one semester?? I would like more info on your program. It sounds like they found something that works very very well and one reason maybe the person they pay to do the job. Please share what ever you know about your program I am having trouble finding instructors available right after school.

Good luck and keep learning how this program works.

I'm new to PTO this year as a kindergarten mom. As such I'm not sure if this situation is at all out of the ordinary but wanted to pose the question to some of you "PTO veterans"... Our After School Enrichment Program is a big project for our PTO with approx. 30 classes being offered each semester (our elementary school population consists of approx. 500 K-5 students). This program is very popular among the student body and and brings in approx. $6,500/semester (gross). Our Enrichment Coordinator is paid approx. $400/month ($1,600 total Aug-Nov). Is this typical for this PTO position to be a paid position. I rather thought it was a volunteer position until the last meeting. This entire program is basically a break-even proposition for us. I would love to hear from some of you as to how your organizations handle this sort of thing. Do other PTOs have paid "volunteer" positions? Thank you!
