We review our list each year and ask who is coming back, we do not have limits. We tend to let someone that is doing a job, keep it if they want. Most say they will unless someone new wants to take it on, this does not usually happen but we try to let everyone help that wants to.
There USED to be something in the by-laws but our last president decided to "retype" them so that "people could understand" them. Well, regardless she "forgot" to put alot of stuff back in there and the new president is sticking by them like its the bible and no one seems to know what happened to the originals. I wanted to find out what I could do about that situation also but since no one can find last years by-laws I have no case, although I practically memorized them when the new president came in last year and started taking all my jobs away.
This may not help but that information is in your bylaws if anywhere at all. Most bylaws contain information regarding officer committees and terms. If you have bylaws look there. Otherwise there is probably nothing to go on.
Does anyone know of any rule saying that a person can chair the same committees for 3 or 4 years straight without any one else having a chance to do it or even help this person? We have a past president that has been on the yearbook committee for 4 years and the fundraising committee for 3 years. She has now taken over the bulletin board committee from me (I wanted it again this year) I have also asked to help with the yearbook and been denied. I know she won't let me help with the bulletin board. The incoming president and her are good friends and she appointed her without approval of the board. I am so frustrated that I am ready to give up the one committee I do have (which I never wanted)and even quit as secretary of our PTO. PLEASE help!!
