We used to use funds for an artist to come in and teach art to the students before the district added art teachers to the curriculum. However, she only asked for $300.00-$400.00 for supplies for K-6, and she didn't receive a salary.
This would really take up a big chunk of your budget, and I don't think most parent groups would feel comfortable providing a salary for a school employee. If the district isn't willing to pay for this position, you might want to see if any grants are available. Another option might be to check with local businesses to see if they would be willing to get involved. Good luck!
We are a relatively small school - about 500 kids - with a budget of $11,500 per year. The teachers at our school are asking the PTO to fund a Computer Lab Tech. to work 15 hours a week. This would add apx. $5,200 to our annual budget. We have already held our one and only fundraiser for the year - and did very well - but absoutely do not want to shell out over $5,000 for the computer lab tech. Our PTO's goal is to have a little fun with our FUNdraising money (like family fun nights!) Does anyone have any thoughts? Do any other PTO's currently pay the salary of a computer lab tech? Any ideas for alternate funding? Any comments or suggestions would be great! Thanks
