Our PTO board took over our display case a few years ago. We've learned over time that the tackier, brighter, and more props the better. Our teachers and students can't wait to see what's coming next. We focus on what's going on at the time. Membership drive, fundraiser, BBQ, Holidays. We use our mascot,BOB (Being our Best) and WAGS (We are good stuff) as much as possible. Our case is large and built into the wall. We include lots of props. Examples: prizes for fundraisers, bail of hay and pumpkins for fall theme. Have fun with it. Remember the tackier and more colorful the better.
Our students line up in front of the bulletin board for lunch, so we try to include something interesting for them, posted at their eye-level. Also, we refer to the parent volunteers in the display as "Sue Smith's Mom" and "Jane Brown's Dad", so the emphasis is on the kids.
I also have a parents corner on my board, which is an article on a different parenting topic. Going back to school, Winter safety etc. We also posted a little holder for our PTO fliers labled "Take one"
Our PTO has also included a posting for Student of the Week and Teacher of the Week as well... There are some very good ideas listed. A PTO monthly calendar of events which lists our community events, has been a big success too.
Hi,
I just wanted to thank everyone for the awesome bulletin board ideas! I finished the board today and I used at least 2 0r 3 ideas from each post! Everyone thinks the board looks great and is extremely useful.
Thanks again!
How about pictures that demonstrate really well what you do for the community. Kids playing on a new playground? A fun family involvement night? The spring fair?
And of course -- a "brought to you by our PTO" caption.
Also love the idea of a "volunteer of the month" (photo, profile, dedicated up-front parking spot, etc.)
