Our PTA audits the "books" as required by PTA local bylaws at the end of each PTA fiscal year or when there is a change of treasurer. Our school has a partnership with the local bank and one of their accountants audited the PTA "books". We could have formed an audit committee made up of PTA members, as specified in our bylaws, if the executive committee wanted to use that avenue.
It looks like we do it yearly & the person doing it writes a report which we keep on file. We have an Audit committee so it's done by parent volunteers & therefore no cost. The last one was done in Jan. Personally, I think it should be done at the end of the school year, especially if we're getting a new treasurer.
Hi I am the new PTO president for our middle school and the secretary for our elementary school PTG. I was just at a district meeting which I learned that only one school in our district (which is a total of 6 elementary schools two middle schools and one highschool) has an audit done yearly. What I was wondering is do all that post on this site have an audit done yearly of their books and if so what do you usually pay to have it done. I feel that is is extremely important and should be done yearly but just wanted some feedback from others. Thanks
