I just wanted to let you know that we "found" all of last years stuff in a shed at school. We're going to go through it today and see what we can find. I'll keep you posted.
Jeniene, I am not too surprised that the financial records have not been turned over. Our fiscal year in our bylaws does not end until June 30th and the treasurer is the only officer who holds onto their info until then. Then an audit is performed by a committee and the books handed over to the incoming treasurer. This is standard for all of our units in our area. Were there treasurer reports at your meetings? You could glean some info from those if you need to. Not insinuating that this will not be resolved soon I would still prepare your board to go ahead and make some tenative plans in case you do not get anywhere such as: Open a new account-plan a fundraiser for very beginning of year to help with what your carry over would have been. cenoz1- the more I read your post I am able to see my own problems I'm having with our transformation. I have recieved info though just nothing from the past year the J was in office. Even the Treasurer is holding back which is stupid on her part since she really is only making hreslef look stupid as the school's bookkeeper has ALL the originals! (when we turn in anything the school keeps the original for audit purposes and we are given a copy) The Prez has a personnal issue with me I don't really understand other than I have a better relationship with the Principal AND staff and parents. I'm also 20 years younger than her and have four children that will- shoot they are all registered!
I really have been lucky to have a awsome relationship with two other past presidents who will both be there (via e-mail as they have both moved!)for me but this is the time you need to show the Principal you won't let this get you down! ---Don't forget about the little munchkin you are doing this for and please hang in there!

With the response you are getting back from the past board I see a red flag. My first thought would be what are they trying to hide. I would get to the bank ASAP and get as much info. as possible to make sure there wasn't a misuse of funds. Also ask the principle what was bought last year. Good Luck!
Thanks for all of the encouragement. I just got off the phone with the person who was President before the people we're replacing (does that make sense) first off she thinks it's totally irresponsible of last years board to do this to us. It's like they're setting us up for failure. Secondly she's not surprised. When she turned over the PTO to these people she had a feeling it would be like this and chose to not stay on with PTO.She also thinks we should go to the principle and let him know just what's going on and see if he has any solutions.
