pto-political?

I think it would be a good thing for you to attend. Your membership would probably welcome the report you would have for them about what is going on. You do not have to share your views at the meeting just be an observer. If they want the support, opinions or thoughts of your PTO that is yet another matter. Perhaps you could have them attend one of your meetings to find out how your members feel.

Our President made the mistake last year of getting involved with a huge mess at our school. She mentioned she is the President and with that parents asumed the entire PTO board was in agreement and we weren't (I personnally was 8 months pregnant and wanted nothing to do with the conflict!). If you feel you need PLEASE make sure you have everyone on the same 'page' and in agreement with what the PTO as a group wants to do. Really watch your step, this could help or REALLY hurt your board! Last year has hurt alot, all our fundraisers have been very low and parents are refusing to attend meetings. Food for thought.

Our PTO had a chance to represented at a meeting involving our Board President and our Superintendent. It was a private house meeting attended by parents concerning our districts dismal performance. Should we get involved and why should we?
