You can do this, but it really isn't a good way to manage spending. We wouldn't recommend it.
One option: Is there another board member with a credit card who can make these purchases? You can funnel these purchase requests to this one person, who can make the purchases and then get reimbursed.
We have board members requesting cash to pay for items for PTO due to not having funds to pay and be remibursed. Can we do this? If yes, how do we go about documenting it?
