barb-r,
We suggest that you have 2 designated check-signers in our
5 Smart Financial Controls article.
Maybe you could show this article to your board and amend your bylaws?
We do not have the principal, vice principal or any teacher as a check signer- in fact any employee from the school can not be a check signer-- all checks must have 2 signatures-- but it is either the president, vice president, either of the 2 treasurers and the sec/publicity chair-- this allows all checks to be written on a timely basis-- and all requests have to be approved by the president or vice president to be paid-- that way one of the 2 of us knows whats going on.
Our by-laws stipulate 4 signers on the checking account. Treasurer, President, Principal and Vice Principal. Is it normal for a principal and vp to be signers?
