I am chairing our projects & goals committee this year. It is our pta committee that funds requests. I worked on revamping the entire process this summer. Basically, anyone can request not just teachers b/c I think parents should be able to request things for the money they raise/donate too (since we are a PARENT/teacher org). Anyway, I created a google doc form that people have to submit requests. If they don't fill out the form, we don't look at it.

In the past, our requests were not complete (not enough info, didn't know how it aligned to the school goals, etc.) and our committee was rather closed. So, this year, I'm all about making it transparent and everyone knowing what's going on.
The other thing we are doing is splitting our funds into long term and short term goals. Otherwise we will never have enough money for those big ticket items. They may take a couple of years to get but at least we are funding them. Our list of requests will be a on-going ranking... as items are requested, the committee will review it and rank it among the other items. As money is available, we will buy the items at the top of the ranking.
I hope this makes sense. I've been working on this process for months and I don't know if I make any sense these days!
