Troublesome Group

Well first question is what does your Bylaws indicate about the Executive positions?

If there's nothing about a "trustee" then you have a way to prevent it.

Personally I have no idea what a Tristee would do. To me it sounds as though one of her followers didn't get a position so she's trying to make one up for her.

What you may want to do, being that it sounds as though she has now put herself into a position of "power" is to set a meeting with all of the Executive members. Ask them what they would like to see happen next year. Define your budget with them for the year. Discuss what they like and what they do not.

This might give you insight into their "plans" and help prevent or at least guide the year. If you leave this unchecked next year might be very difficult. If this one "leader" is always questioning everything that you, or your committee chairs are doing, it is going to look really bad. But, if you can define certain things before the start of the year then when she tries to create waves you can simply state that these decisions were decided and agreed upon, by her and the others, during the summer.

Good luck,

I have been the president for quite some time and in all of my time I have never experienced this issue before. From the beginning of the school year, there has been one person who questions everything the officers do. She also has a "following". We just had election of officers and her and the following managed to unseat the treasurer and secretary, and fill the opening of vice president. Next year they want to add a trustee to the board. Can anyone advise me as to the purpose of a trustee and does it help the group? Any advice for me, the "lame duck" PTO prez, would be greatly appreciated.
