Come up with a detailed specific plan in advance of what has to be done and when each step of action will need to be taken. Spread them out day by day or event by event.
Don't actually dole out the assignments until the next meeting
I'd think it woud be best to share this with others that are upset privately.
On day one, when she does something someone else is supposed to do, have that person, say to her, "I was supposed to do that. I'm really hurt badly because I really wanted to help, but when I showed up, this was already done." The more people use very similar words, the more the point will be driven home.
After a couple of people doing this in a row, she will get the point real quickly.
Also, some organizations have rules about approval of information before it can be sent or distributed.
Now if I take her position, Perhaps some of the other people are actually waiting too late to get things started. They haven't earned her trust, and she thinks they are supposed to do this. A great weakness of a leader is to not trust others to do their job.
Our PTA has a rule that the principal must see and approve ALL flyers before they go home with students. maybe something like that should be adopted. Also, when are your elections? maybe just vote her out. also try a sit down with all board members and her -- like an intervention might be helpful. lol.
Any advice on how to handle a situation that is becoming a huge problem for our PTO... We have a board member that works hard, is good at what she does, but... she "helps" everyone else on the board or so she thinks. Actually, she takes over your responsibilities and does things before you can blink an eye and takes over. She does your job and wants recognition for doing what you didn't do because she did it first. Meanwhile, her own responsibilities suffer and her co-chair must deal with it. Also, she has adopted projects without board approval and is doing everything in the name of the PTO. Letters/flyers are going home to parents without anyone else seeing it first.
What can we do? We all have short fuses right now.
