PTO that nominated themselves with no vote

PTO that nominated themselves with no vote was created by apehangmomtwrjhh
Hi, I have( newly) found myself as the secretary on a Brand new PTO.( it was in exsitance but dropped and not re started till this year... long story ,,,, Before I was made aware of this position .....and of a PTO , The officers had nominated themselves and met in secret for a few weeks. I was not in ,or asked to take this position, till the announcement of the self crowned PTO. to the parents.. they were asked to vote by objection.( in front of the whole crowd.. like when the preacher says at a wedding does anyone Object to this bride marrying this man.. no one is going to call attention to themselves and scream no) .. not paper ballots.
This is strange for me because I am used to running a PTA by the book and did well for the alloted time I was serving.
Is this normal?... and sadly it has cost the pto in parental support because many parents would have loved to tried to be a officer. I am keeping the position to make a difference in the school and on the board... But I am not happy and the parents are all now being pressured to pay up... when the PTO isnt thinking about a possible percieved insult to the parents.... HELP>>>
