Last year our school changed over to a year round schedule. The PTO made changes to the bylaws for elections to work with the year round school.
Here is the problem. I was newly elected as President with a fairly new (& very enthusiastic I might add) board. With the change in election dates, we ended up with a little more than a month to plan for the new year.
Many things are no brainers they will stay the same. But there are many changes we needed to make based on how our first year as a year round went. Plus we are adding family nights to our calendar & budget.
My thought is that elections should be pushed back so that the new board can start working with the old board the beginning of June to give a good 3 months planning for the new year & good training for any new board members.
We did not even get a break in August because we want this to be a good year.
As a year round school how do you work these things out? I really want to smooth all this out this year so that next year there is less stress in the transition.
