Check with your local district. Sponsorship has different meanings to different people.
Our PTO charters a boy scout/cub scout group. Sponsoring usually means there is an involvement somehow.
WHene I was in high school (back in the day) our band 'sponsored' a drum and bugle corp for two weeks during the summer. Our band/school provided a place for them to stay (in the gym) a field to practice on, and we also helped out when needed to transport the members to a resturant etc. There was no money involved, but time.
Questions do need to be answered.
I suspect they expect you to collect the fees and pay the company -- administer the program? That's what our school would mean if they asked us to 'get involved' with something like this.
I don't see why you need to be involved here, but there is no obvious problem with it, IMO.
If you don't expect too much from me, you might not be let down. <img src=images/smilies/smile.gif>
Not sure what "sponsoring" means. That's really the big question.
Does sponsoring mean you tell parents about its existence in your newsletter? If that (or something like it) is it, then that's not much to worry about (and you can decide whther to do or not do fairly easily).
But I suspect "sponsoring" has some deeper meaning at your school or district. Need to know that.
Thanks for your response. No money would be given by the PTO and it would be organized by the parent with this outside group. Does sponsoring this make program make us liable through our own insurance?
