Our town has a special needs PTO that is for students district wide in all elementary & middle schools. It is in addition to the school PTO's. They conduct one fundraiser each year and that funds special grants that teachers apply for to pay for programs that they wish to have in their classrooms to assist students with special needs. They also arrange for special guest speakers, authors, and a parents discussion group so parents can be educated on the needs their child may have.
