OK--I KNOW it's an old thread, but. . I'm a new member. And the person in question in the original post could have been me. I do a lot of things for the school that are efforts outside my scope as president--or whatever role I'm in on the board. Much of that work is professional services that I provide pro-bono and has NOTHING to do with the school's equivlant of a PTO--and that was made clear up front. I worked with the previous administration on these projects and when the current principal joined, he and I worked together on quite a few projects that benefited the school, and a lot of that time was spent in the office, behind closed doors because of confidential nature (the door has a window by the way). And there have been times I've filled in for office staff members because I can be trusted with confidential information. But I 've endured the weird looks, the questions about my being there as well--even some insinuations that really hurt. I just explain to people what my role is and tell them how much it would cost to pay someone to do the same thing. I think the intrigue comes from the fact that the principal is young and of the opposite sex (and some moms think attractive--I didn't say I'm one of them). Bottom line is--I knew nothing was going on, he knew nothing was going on, his secretary who sat right outside his door knew nothing was going on, MY HUSBAND KNEW NOTHING WAS GOING ON. . so why question and make people who have a good working relationship feel like they're doing something immoral and start gossip and rumors where there doesn't need to be? In the end, that people would "talk"--including teachers--didn't stop the work from happening, but it made working together harder because we ended up walking on eggshells with each other, less someone start a rumor. How stupid is that?
And for the record, I plan to do the same work for the incoming principal.
thanks, shawn and beignets- goodpoints- I was feeling a little " scolded" for being stupid and not looking at the dates of the thread.. LONG LIVE THIS THREAD!! LOL
A ressurrected post might help someone besides 'search' or reposting the same question.
Date of post is irrelevant

seems to me its immaterial if the issue has been resolved or not, many of these threads are long over time, and hearing many views and input from
others' experience is part of the great utility of these boards. my 02. the corporal punishment thread is but one example. lots of great inputs on these boards and not just the original post-er benefits from all the responses, regardless of how long the thread is. as long as there is input, there are new ideas and sharing ideas is whats it about here, or so it seems to me.
