check the bylaws and see what that says...then go from there. Maybe the president feels that since she is the one using it the most it is the easiest but who else can sign it is the question?
Have you checked your by-laws as to who has check writing privledges? That may be the ace in the hole the new treasurer needs. Plus, has she sat down face to face with the pres? is there a reason the pres wouldn't trust her with the money?
Perhaps someone should point that President in the direction of a dictionary.. and show her the definitions of PRESIDENT and TREASURER. It sounds like she would rather be the Treasurer!
That situation would not work at my school. Only our treasurer can write checks and generate financial reports. I would go to the principal for some advice on how to handle this situation. If the principal can't help, then I would go to the superintendent.
I'm the PTO President at my school, and I would never act that way. It's not like the new president at your school is getting paid. We are all volunteers that should be trying to make things better at our school, not worse. Good luck to you. I hope everything works out soon.
I served many years as the Treasurer of our school and last year decided to take a step down and try other positions. The new President will not give the books to the new Treasurer. Pres collects money, writes checks, etc. Only gives new Treasurer copies of recpts with no detail to record it in correct "buckets" for budgets, etc. The software is not being updated that we use to generate reports. Treasuere is getting frustrated.
How can this succeed? Everytime I am at the school or soccer fields all I hear is how bad it is. HOw much of a control freak the new Pres is.
Any suggestions? I have given tehm my two cents to no avail.
