Through an international nonprofit organization I volunteer for, I discovered a great website where 501(c)3 registered groups can order software and other technological equipment for deeply discounted rates. The link is
www.techsoup.org/stock/default.asp?cg=header&sg=stock
You can get Publisher for $5, Microsoft Office (which would include Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for $16 and many other great discounts. There are some restrictions. Mainly: “Each charity or nonprofit will be eligible to make one donation request for Microsoft products and licenses each year through TechSoup Stock. Though charities and nonprofits may order twice (once per year) within a two-year period, the combined total of products ordered in a two-year period may not exceed six titles and 50 user licenses per title. Once two years have passed since an organization's original order, these limits will be reset (e.g. a customer that placed an order on 10/1/04 may order six new titles and 50 licenses per title (or one license per server title) on 10/1/06).†Also, in order to place an order, you need a minimum of 5 “seats,†meaning 5 licenses. Depending upon the manufacturer, other restrictions may apply, but Adobe, Quicken, Norton and other programs are available. I just thought it would be great for parent groups who do not have Quickbooks, Publisher, or PTO Board members who do not have Word, Excel or other basic programs.
