Now thay they are officers you should start seeing more of them. Are you upset they may do a poor job, or they will not work according to your agenda?

Also a recurring theme on these boards, is PTO Principal Takes Over.

Tough situation. Surely the support of parents will go down with such a stance of the admin.
And then the message will come thru loud and clear to the principal, that the P stands for parents and maybe then things will change.

I have heard of PTOs that officially or defacto became P(arent)Os or even T(eacher)Os, but I guess one could add P(rincipal)O to that growing list of dysfunctional PTOs. How sad for the school community and kids. They deserve better. What DO the kids learn when the adults set such examples of 'we cant get along together so we will change it accoridning to MY (eitehr parent, principal or teacher ) rules, depenidng on who caries the most polictical or positional clout at the school.

Our principal tends to go by his owns bi-laws. he controls the check book, he controls the meetings he controls what is dicussed in the meetings. and i am so afraid of what is going to happen to the PTO. since this meeting i have not seen the "new" president once. lemonade i would love to make it. but it is hard when the principal wont let you have a glass or the lemons

You know the resounding theme on these boards when it comes to issues like this is "Get to know your bylaws". Almost all of the ones I've seen have some sort of provision for nominating committees and requirements. If you don't have by laws, put your energies into writing some this year and see if you can get them passed to better structure your organization, providing guidelines so that everyone knows the "law" and how it can best be used to benefit your organizaiton. Good luck and try to make some lemonade if you can....d

We had our last PTO meeting of the year last week. I like most thought that we would nominate parents for the board. When we arrived we were told elections would be held. Now our PTO consists of 2 schools and those elected, i have not seen at meetings. I had never heard of anything that they have done for the school or kids.A few of us have been active PTO for 3 years and none of us were elected. Principal does not care at all. He pushed aside that the reason 1 of the schools is going on field trips is because of 1 mom. ANGRYYYYY HURT UPSET needed to vent
