Does anyone have a sample letter they give their teachers and staff stating the qualifications for asking for money. I love the idea of putting it in writing before just showing at a meeting and putting us on the spot. Thanks

We budget fieldtrips, school supplies, lowincome eye clinic visits, book and beyond reading program plus a few other programs.

We have given teachers $100 grants for school supplies/ projects in the past but no plan was in place other than have receipts turned in by 30 May.

The last 3 weeks (4 weeks after our allocation mtg- that only the principal- no teachers attended) I and our board have been swamped with request for "I need by next week, or this month, or could the PTA fund this program that the school district used to.."

We are now coming up with rules, guidelines and grant proposals because, they school thinks because we have a large budget, we're a cash cow or $$$ tree. We usually fund most anything the school does or needs BUT the lack of courtesy, lackof looking for other resources also, and lack of notice (ie. $$$ for extra assembly tomorrow) IS making me  .

That seems to be the Good, Bad and Ugly all rolled into one (Maybe I'll make another movie. Cathchy title... Oh wait NAH) :D

We usually gave the teachers $5.00 per student in Sep.for start up & $5.00 per student for field trips in the spring. In the meantime they held bake sales & popcorn sales for extra $$$$.

We have a budget for "teacher grants." Each teacher can apply for a grant of up to $100 and we'll review it and approve it. Haven't seen one yet that we've turned down. Most teachers will say "I want XXX and if you have any extra money, I could also use YYY."

We give a large donation to the school for the purpose of field trips and then let the principal decide how to divide it up. We also do a gift sale and proceeds from that go directly to an account for teachers' classroom use. We do have a small 'slush fund' that the principal does dip into throughout the year, but those requests are typically limited.

our first fundraiser of the year (innisbrook gift wrap sales) is held just for teachers. All profits go directly back into the childs classroom to be used for field trips and classroom supplies. The parents love it because the see the direct benefit from the sales and the teachers love it because in October they know exactly how much money they have to work with for the year.
Our criteria for requesting money, it that it benefits the majority of the students, not just one classroom. We fund requests for school signs, campus beautification, red ribbon week incentives, an art teacher to teach each class how to make a clay project, not art supplies for 20 kids for one project or bus transporation for 20 kids to a location.
I could not imagin trying to decide which teachers projects were worthly of being funded and which we had to say sorry to. Good luck.
