We have junior high kids come and babysit at our meetings. We pay them $10 and they take all the kids to the kindergarten room to play, color, etc. We usually have apple juice and cookies or something for them. It's worked well so far.....

We have something different each month. One month it might be having our babysitter in the reading room of the library, other times its just coloring if we have a small group. We also have a play corner in our PTO Room so the kids keep busy there too. It was just left over toys from different moms. Puzzles, games, kitchen set, writing on the chalkboard.

Definitely have something structured if you have more than a few kids or it will get crazy!!!!!!

We have a volunteer who does crafts with the kids during meetings. At the Sept. meeting they made scarecrow heads out of brown paper bags(stuffed with paper) and drew the faces with markers. They were really cute. If time allows she will then teach them games from when she was young. You definitely need structure or they tend to go wild. After the meeting the kids join their parents for refreshments.

We are trying something new this year and having our 7th and 8th grade Honor Students watch children at the monthly meetings. It's been great for meeting attendance, but it needs to have some sort of structure to it. Can anyone give me some pointers on running something like this?
