I feel the pain. I am a new pres in a 2 yr old school with a new principal coming in as well. I don't know where to begin! All I have is an exec. board.

Although I am sure you are both a little apprehensive I am also certain you will do a great job. Your hearts are in the right place and that is more then half the battle. Best of luck!!

Good Luck! You'll do fine. It sounds like you have a pretty good start.

I too am starting my first year with the PTO as a board member. The board will have it's first meeting with the principal later this month and I'm hoping for the best. I kinda know the secretary and the treas. and somewhat the prez. from last year, but not having been involved with the board before, I'm a little nervous.

I had my first meeting with two of three of my new board members. I know a few people have posted about such meetings and I thought I would share. I feel so much better since meeting with them.

The meeting ended up being 2 1/2 hours long. The ladies were very patient with me. They didn't try to strangle me once. Ha Ha. They were at this school before (last year was its first year) and answered many of my questions. We came up with a few ideas, narrowed things down. The treasurer (whom I don't know well at all) and I had alot of the same ideas! Basically we hit the high lights. Now we are ready to meet with the principal about dates and such.

Even though I have been heavily involved with the PTO for several years I feel like such a novice. There is alot of work to be done at this school and the set up is much different than anything I've been involved with before. Wish me luck and keep your fingers crossed the one and only copier doesn't mess up while we are getting ready to start the new year.
