These pencils are just a generic name for the red pencils teachers have historically used to correct papers...you know, the ones your papers were all marked up with when you were a kid in school? thats all they are!!!
Yes, it's just a pencil with a red "lead"--similar to a map color pencil. Teachers and kids use them to grade their papers. We get them at Walmart, HEB, or any store with school supplies.
I agree. It's not really a grease pencil, more like a red map pencil. Our list asks for red PENS, but I've seen the pencils at office supply stores, maybe Walmart.

Note - I definitely would not buy the grease pencil (also called "China marker"), it would be too thick.
Aren't these just the red pencils that teachers use in grading? I'm sure if you go to the Parent Teacher store they will know exactly what you are talking about.
