I use Excel but when you can see what someone else has done, it makes it easier for you to do. It's not that I do anything special. It's just that I can explain the formats for spreadsheet so it allows you to organize the information to best suit your needs. I have history with office accounting that we had to do all by hand and on ledgers. I don't like using programs that make me put in every transaction when my group wants to see things they know and understand like bank statements and checkbook registars. I was just going to offer my method of organizing and giving data and try to help her find something she could be comfortable with, even if it's doing it all by hand and on written ledgers.
The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris
You might want to check out the new web based treasurer program that PTO Today is currently developing. Finance Manager was created because we have heard from many treasurers with the same issues you are currently facing. You can read more about Finance Manager here

. You can also request a free trial of Finance Manager - which should be ready for use in early July.

Over the past few months, I have been helping the current trasurer and training to take over next year. This year we have had a very un-rganized group and lost most of our members. Next year's PTO board is already forming and we are having our first meeting May 3rd.
I would like to have all of our income and expenditures put together in some sort of format to show the new Pres. and others. My friend told me to try Excel, well after a week and a migraine I surrender to the Excel monster and give up! I would like some sort of format where I can separate all of our different forms of incoem and the withdrawals that come from each separately to show how much profit, if any, we make from the different things we do.
Does anyone have any ideas or use any particular type of thing to do this that will not force me to invest in Tylenol?
Oh and the reason I don't use the current Trasurer's methods....she just keeps the checkbook register and then types everything into Microsoft Word and separates it out and does the figures on a calculator and types them in.....I would like something a little more 21st century.
