High School PTO

Hi:

I've been active in our local PTO's for ten years, throughout elementary,
middle, and now high school. Middle school was a challenge, but in a few
years we were able to get the group active again. Now, I've taken up the
Co-Presidency of our high school. It's PTSO, as we involve students. We
have been able to drastically increase meeting attendance, built a working
board of directors, have administarion involved, opened communication
through a newsletter and opened the door wide for participation. All this
in three months!! It's paying off slowly, but we are looking for
suggestions that are high school friendly. It's a different world from the
younger grades. We're trying to peacefully co-exist with many clubs who
also do fundraising, we must hire security for school events, and many
parents continue to believe that 9th grade is a cut off for involmement in
their child's school. So, there's adversity, but we're not giving up.
We'll keep it going for those who want to stay involved (and there are out
there!)
Any suggestions from other high school PTO's? Thank you!
